Show AN ORDINANCE REGULATING THE keoplng and Btorlng of explosives within the limits of Salt Lako county, and outside out-side the limits ol Incorporated cities and towns therein. Tho Board of County Commissioners of the county of Salt Lake ordains as follows: fol-lows: Section 1. It ehall bo unlawful for any poreon to erect or maintain In Salt Lake county any magazlno for tho storago of explosives, within threo hundred foot of any road, highway, railway used for passenger pas-senger traffic, or building where people llvo or gather; or to construct ouch magazlno mag-azlno of other than fireproof material, such ns brick, adobo, rock, Iron, steel, or by excavation Into tho side of a hill or mountain; or to fall to provide such magazine mag-azine with double doom and shutters over any openings, such doors or shutters to be of non-combustlble material. Section 3. It shall bo unlawful for any person to keep or store In any enclosure, building, car, mine, or place of business, In Salt Lako county, any gunpowder, giant or horcules powder, nltro-glycerine, dynamite, atlas, venture, or other high oxploslvo, except In a magazlno as do-scribed do-scribed In section 1-of this ordlnanco; Provided, that a sample of gunpowder, giant or herculce powder, not to exceed ten pounds, may be kopt In any llcensod plnce of business where such explosives aro sold, and tho amount so kept shall bo stored In canisters or original packages and placed in a vault of construction approved ap-proved by tho Sheriff of Salt Lako county, coun-ty, and located at an acccsslblo point not nearer than ten feet to any othor building; build-ing; and provided, further, that any person per-son may keep. In a canlstor or finale, for his own use, not to exceed six and one-quarter one-quarter pounds of gunpowder; and It shall bo unlawful to sell or weigh gunpowder, giant or horcules powder, or other high explosive, by gas, lamp, candle or fire light, unless In flonlcd cans or canisters. Section 3. It shall bo unlawful for any person to keep or store giant or horcules powder caps, or caps used to explodo giant or hercules powder, unless they bo In cases, separate from any kind of explosive ex-plosive powder; if kept In a powder magazine, maga-zine, thoy shall bo kept In a separato vault or safe; If kept at a place 01 business, busi-ness, they ehnll be In a vault or safo separate sep-arate nnd removed from all other explosives, explo-sives, as provided In section 2 of thla ordinance or-dinance for tho storago of samples of explosives. Section 4. It Bhnll be unlawful for any person to manufacture any combustible or explosive acids or other chemicals or boll or refine oils, or maintain, erect, or causo to bo creotcd any works for tho manufacture of combustlblo or explosive aclda or other chemicals, or for tho boiling boil-ing or refining of oils, within forty rods of any dwclllng-houso or placo of business. busi-ness. Section C. Tho Board of County Commissioners Com-missioners may at any tlmo order the removal re-moval of any magazine for the keeping or storing of explosives, and it shall bo unlawful un-lawful for any person having control of any such magazine to refuse, for a period pe-riod of thirty days, to comply with any such order of removal. Section C. The word person a8 used In this ordlnanco shall bo construed as including in-cluding persons, firms, partnerships, corporations cor-porations and associations. Section 7. Any poraon violating any of tho provisions of this ordinance shall bo deemed guilty of a mlsdomeanor. Section S. This ordlnanco shall be In effect from and after May 16. 3901, this dato being not less than fifteen days after Its passage.
