Show Italian Strikers Taken to Helper They Number One Hundred and Sixteen Six-teen and Answer Court on Serious Charge Special to Tho Tribune. DRICE. Utah, April 27. The 116 Italian Ital-ian strikers were taken to Helper this morning to appear before Justice M. A. Ward, to answer to a blanket charge of resisting an officer of the law in performing his duty, by refusing to give up prisoners who escaped es-caped from the Price Jail, rioting, intimidating intim-idating men and driving them from work ln the Helper yards, hold-up of M. P. Braffet and other charges are against various members of the mob from Strike Town. The Helper school house was secured for use as a courtroom. court-room. Attorneys for the strikers waived reading of the complaint against their clients and pleaded not guilty ln each case. Beginning with tomorrow, ono case will be called each day until all of the 116 arc disposed of. Sylvester Tedeoco, in whose case a separate charge was made of rioting, intimidation with firearms, breaking quarantine regulations, etc.,- will have his trial when the other 116 cases are disposed of. He gave $1000 bond today and Is at liberty. Caesar Antonio's case which is similar will como up tomorrow. Tils bond was fixed at $1000 but was not furnished. If held, his trial will follow Tedesco's. The first trial of tho 116 will be the case against "Rosano Scavo, to be tried tomorrow before Justice "Ward on the general charge, after him, John Mila-noy. Mila-noy. Joe Barbogilio, the Helper saloonkeeper, saloon-keeper, was released under $500 bond. His hearing will come toward the last. The 116 Italians arc back at Price tonight to-night under guard in the implement shed and all seem satisfied. In fact, they say It is a picnic. James Harrison, chairman of, the Board of County Commissioners, Is hero tonight and the other members of the Board are expected tonight, and they will convene tomorrow. |
