Show STANFORD VICTORY OVER CALIFORNIA STANFORD "UNIVERSITY, Cal., April 16. The Stanford track team won the twelfth annual Intercollegjate field meet from the University of California this afternoon by a margin of 1G points. The final score stood 09 points for Stanford Stan-ford against 53 for California. Over 2000 people witnessed the meet, which was the best ever held on the Stanford campus. In spile of a drizzling rain for two hours before the meet, good time was made in all the running events and two records were broken In the field events. O W. Hyde of Stanford put the lC-pound shot 45 feet C1 inches. Norman Nor-man Dole of Stanford raised his Pacific Pa-cific coast pole vault record one Inch by clearing the bar at IL feet 5 Inches. The day opened with the mile run, in which Holman, captain of the Stanford team, won first place. The 100-yard dash was won by Abadle of California In 10 seconds Hat. Lanagan of Stanford took first place in the hurdle races. Dunn, Stanford's crack quarter-mile runner, won his race easily, while California's Cali-fornia's long-distance men took all three places In the two-mile run. Johnstone John-stone of California took llrst place in the 220-yard dash. Holman of Stanford won the half-mile in 2:03 2-5, coming, within one second of the Pacillc coast amateur record. Tho California team carried off the mllo relay race. The Held events and winner pf each were as follows: Sixteen-pound hammer throw Won by Crawford of Stanford, 133 feet 5 Inches. High jump Cooley of California and Bell and Dole of Stanford tied at 5 feet 11 Inches. Sixteen-pound shot put Won by Hyde of Stanford, 45 feet 6' Inches. Broad jump Won by West of Stanford, Stan-ford, 21 feet 10 inches. Pole vault Won by Dole of Stanford 11 feet S-i inches. |
