Show PARKER, NOT HEARST, WILL CARRY NEVADA Special to The Tribune. OGDEN, Utah, April 16. Gov. John Sparks of Nevada was In Ogden today en route to his home at Reno. Seen by a representative of The Tribune and asked as to the political situation in that State. Gov. Sparks stated that. In his opinion, the convention to select National delegates would declare against "William R. Hearst Judge Parker Par-ker Ib likely to get the Nevada delegation, delega-tion, the Governor said. a a I The habeas corpus petition of J. J. Shepherd was not heard Saturday. Judge Hart failed to appear, but he notified Clerk Hollingsworth that he would bo Jn Ogden Monday and hear the case. Shepherd languishes in the county jail. c 0 Commander Booth-Tucker did not arrive ar-rive In Ogden today, as expected, and his lecture, "Love and Sorrow," was postponed until, Sunday evening. The commander was delayed on account of wash-outs on the Oregon Short Line north of Boise, but he will reach Ogden Sunday. Capt Crispin of the Salvation Army received a telegram from Staff Capt. Wood asklnsr him to meet tho train at the Union depot at 7 o'clock Sunday morning. This Is taken to mean that Booth-Tucker intends to go to Salt Lako and speak in the afternoon, returning re-turning to Ogden in the evening. o An Italian, whose name was not learned, was badly burned by the explosion ex-plosion of a kerosene lamp. Ponslcr deserted from Fort ilead, $. T). A man giving the name o Stirr, who Is supposed to be Stone, the murderer of Roy Jlllls, is under arrest at the police po-lice station. The man was arrested some days ago by Officer Hadlock on the charge of assault with a deadly weapon, but after his arrest it was discovered dis-covered that his description answered that of Stone, and he will be detained until the matter is Investigated. Mills was murdered in Ogden last October during tho reign of terror which pervaded per-vaded the city. He was in the employ of tho Lucln cut-off and was enticed to a lonely spot on the bank of the Ogden river, where he was murdered and robbed. Tho police believe that they havo tho right man. Briefs.
