I, l.. nf Alf- system ior nit unj. uuiuuci ui uu-fcrent uu-fcrent propositions were prepented and debated pro and con with spirit. Some were in favor of bonding tho city to tho extent of 525,000 and securing a system that would furnish wnter for culinary purposca for the entire community com-munity as well a furnish protection against fire. The plan In this caBe was to go up Little Cottonwood two mileu nnd sink a number of artesian wells nnd pipe the water Into tho city from that point. This was finally voted down a entailing too heavy a tax on the people at this time. The plan that was finally ngrced to Is to establish an electric pump In Little Cottonwood creek and a pipe system to supply the main part of the city with water. This will cost from $10,000 to $12,000, and it is expected to pay for it out of the collections from licenses In three or four years. Thlf? echeme was opposed, of course, by those In the city who will receive no direct benefit from It; but it was strongly favored by the business element ele-ment of the community In particular, who recently had a very costly Illustration Illustra-tion of tho sad lack of lire equipment. It was also argued that this was but a start toward a complete water system for the city, and that ay the cost wns to be paid out of licenses It would not add to the tax burden of the people. |
