Show S WANT ORDER MODIFIED COUNTY SCHOOL TRUSTEES PRESENT PRE-SENT SMALLPOX PETITION Ask Modification of Stato Boards Order Or-der Permitting Only Vaccinated Children to Attend School A large number of county school trustees waited upon the new Board of County Commissioners yesterday and presented petitions from themselves them-selves and also from private residents of the county asking that the order of the County Board of Health directing that only vaccinated children and pupils pu-pils shall be admitted to the schools bo modified at least to the extent that I it should not apply to districts which are free from smallpox It was said that twentyone of the thirtysix school districts in the county are free from the scourge A point was raised as to whether the County Board of Health was obliged to obey the order of the State Board of Health or whether the county board could on Its own responsibility modify or change the original order which emanated from the State board Nobody was posted on the point and the petitions were referred to tho County Board of Health with the County Coun-ty Attorney associated Chairman Anderson called a meeting of the County Board of Health for 2 p m next Saturday to consider the matter and the school trustees appointed appoint-ed a committee of five composed of G I W Bills Bliffdalo Daniel Whipple North Point Heber A Smith Draper Amos Gabbott Farmers H W Brown Murray to meet with the Board of Health and urge their demands As far as Superintendent Ashton had heard most of the schools in the county opened to vaccinate children only and no reports had been received of Infractions of the law The attendances attend-ances at the BIngham and Sandy schools were very good while at Mill S Creek the attendance was small The schools at Murray did not open on account ac-count of the freezing and bursting of the water pipes in the school building build-Ing |
