Show THE OLD RYE PATCH MINE more important disclosures being made in this ancient bonanza A month ago mention was wa made in these columns of the rejuvenation of the old rye patch mine at rye patch nevada and of the large body of fine ore disclosed by intelligent prospecting the showing I 1 in the mine at that time were such as to place it in the list of regular producers S since ince then however other bodies of rich ore have been uncovered an account of which has been furnished the star of winnemucca by a correspondent who says an enormously rich strike was made in the conlin in the famous old rye patch mine the fore part of the week this new strike is of a vein averaging about 14 inches wide and the ore consists of a solid mass of hors silver silver bromides chlorides lead and copper assays essays taken from across the face of the vein run from 1483 ounces silver 25 per cent lead 45 per cent copper and about 1 in gold to 2850 ounces silver 20 per cent lead and about 9 per cent copper this vein lies directly below the vein of ore from which the company has been shipping for the past t two vo months and from appearances will make into this vein within ten feet and when these two veins come together they will no doubt make another of the great ore shoots that the rye patch is noted for in the early days these ore shoots were followed for hundreds of feet and sometimes they exceeded 50 feet in width the old workings speak for thenis themselves elves the conlin where the recent strike was made is below and to the west of the famous borland that in the early days was supposed to have procured some and the trend of the vein is ia to the west and north and is dipping into virgin ground in both directions this leads the owners to belleba belleva be lieva that they have tapped another one of these enormous shoots and appearances bear out their belief in every particular and the ore one they are getting from this is without doubt the richest ore of that kind that has been found in the humboldt range for years and without doubt the richest ever found in the district another strike was made the latter part of week on one of the claims belonging to the rye patch mining alining leasing company this claim is known as the mary eva and lies across the canyon and west of the old rye patch mine and is believed to be the extension of the rye patch vein that prospectors and miners have been hunting for since the early the rye patch faults at the canyon and various tunnels and shafts in every direction have failed to open it up until this present was prospected in a foot tunnel the being down about 30 feet from the tunnel level there a stringer was encountered and by following this stringer the present body of ore was wae encountered this vein or shoot is about two feet in width and runs very high in silver and copper the lowest assay received from this vein being 24 ounces in silver and four per tent cent copper this is the only ore of the kind that has been found in the district outside of the rye patch line and for that reason the owners are led to believe that they have the long looked for extension of the rye patch another shift has been put to work on the rye patch mine and a car of ore was shipped to the salt lake smelters shelters sm elters the last of the week and another is being hauled to the station by W B borland who has the contract for hauling the ore from the mine to the station another carload of lumber is being hauled to the mine for the buildings that are being erected on the property a new cook house is finished and the bunkhouse office managers house and assay office are under way two wells have been sunk to bedrock iu hi the canyon and enough water developed to supply the stamp mill and an d concentrators that are on their way and will be erected d as soon as they arrive |
