Show ORE I THE HIGH OR Unexpected Strike in This Promising Montana Mane The owners of the High Ore mine four miles from Basin are greatly elated over a strike in their tunnel which was made a few days ago says the Helena Independent The compatiy is pushing its tunnel toward a big lead that is 90 feet wide on the surface The contract for 300 feet was let to Helena men last October when the work was commenced Since then two shifts of men have been pushing the work along as fast as the nature cf the rock would admit We have struck 30 inches of solid galena ore at a point 1200 feet from the mouth of the tunnel said Mrs I Ella Knowles Haskell yesterday at her office in the Bailey block The strike was a surprise for we had no knowledge knowl-edge of the ore body which to all appearances ap-pearances is a true fissure vein I is clean galena every bit of it shipping ore and lies between granite Avails We have drifted in ten feet on the vein and find i of uniform width There is no indication of such a vein on the surface but as we struck it at a depth of GOO feet we feel certain that it is a true vein The contractors who are driving the tunnel have the use of the companys equipment which includes a compres sor and Burley drills and so until their I work is completed we cannot develop j the new vein or find out just what we have By actual survey the big lead toward which we are driving is 283 feet away but the vein dips so that we expect ex-pect to strike it in another hundred feetThe The ore from the new vein is of good quality A number of assays average 26 of which 12 is in gold the remainder being in lead silver and latter copper there being 2 per cent of the |
