Show CALL AGAIN Albions Sons and Daughters Have a Delight ful Entertainment The Sons of St George gave 1 rare entertainment en-tertainment last evening in the Temple of Honor hal to a host of interested and sympathetic friends The programme was a choice and varied one and it aroused the enthusiasm of tne audience Mr Doxey president of the Trafalgar edge introduced the fare of the evening in a neat speech stating the objects of the society and inviting those present to consider con-sider the benefits both socially and bene flciarv of the order Mr J Broadbent gave an English concertina solo in a I flourishing manner showing taste and ability Miss Crissio Lawson delighted the audience with her welltrained voice in the song Afterwards by Mary Mark Lemon and received a hearty encore Mr William Gill Mills was called upon for a recitation und gave in elocutionary style Hoods Parental Ode to His Son showing show-ing that the poets ideal was to contrast to actual human life Mr O Berkhoel gave 3 grand violin solo accompanied by Mr Frank Merrill displaying skill and taste Mr J James was in excellent vdice his rendering of the Old Brigade being much appreciated the encore song being Village Blacksmith Viage After an interval of five minutes during which time there was a grand shaking of I hands and congratulation and talking of the Auld country tho exercises were resumed Miss Maud Pratt improves upon acquaintance Her song Thinking was rendered in a charming manner which completely captivated the audience Life is a Dream was her encore en-core song Mr J Howard gave a speech The English People in a succinct and eloquent talk Mr W Brown recited Caledonia very spiritedly Mr Doxeys comic song The Country Schoolboy called down tho house The closing remarks re-marks were made by Mr Will Schoiield The audience dispersed highly pleased with the entertainment and were kindly invited again in the language of the grocer to call |
