Show GOULD AND THE UNION PACIFIC Tho enterprising reporters persist in saving sav-ing that Mr JAr GOULD and Mr SIDNEY DILLON are soon to retire from the Union Pacific surrendering the control to the VANDEHBILTS who would thus havo a through line from the Atlantic to the Pacific but the reporters are undoubtedly talking at random It was only last December De-cember that Mr GOULD took possession of the road since which he has been engaged in the work of reorganizing the various departments I de-partments of the system Ho has only just completed a personal inspection of a large part of the line and having found things in a much better condition than he had any reason to expect ex-pect they would be in it is not likely that he will step down and out furthermore further-more the scheme which he devised for carrying the debt of the company and providing pro-viding the money necessary to do what he wants to do has prospered so well that it may be said to be a complete success There is really nothing which suggests that GOULD should retire or that he will go out on the contrary everything indicates that he will stay with the Union Pacific and make money out of it as he does out of everything else he touches |
