Show Weather Crop Bulletin WASHINGTON Sept 2The followings following-s the monthly weather crop bulletin issued is-sued by the weather bureau August was warmer than usual on the Atlantic coast in the lower lake region of Michigan coast in all tho states on the Pacific coast cooler than the average temperature for August throughout the central valleys Frosts occurred in the extreme northwest north-west about the 20th but bl t the wheat crop was so well advanced that only very slight damage occurred in the extreme northern nortions of Minnesota and North Dakota Frost reached the northern boundary of Iowa but reports generally indicate no material injury resulted to the corn crop Preceding the occurrence of these frosts warnings were sent out by this service to the cranberry and tobacco regions of Wisconsin Wis-consin which enabled farmers to take the usual precautions to prevent injury to these crops Reports indicate the frosts were quite severe in exposed localities in this localties region and that the cranberry crop was injured although doubtless much benefit must beneft have resulted from tho frost warnings The rainfall was greater than usual in the interior of New England and the mid dle Atlantic states Tho rainfall was also in excess from the lake region to the Pa chic coast along the northern boundary of the United States and in the status of the central Mississippi valley Portions of Texas and Colorado also report limited areas of excessive raiu lmited The corn crop is late and will probably wi require about two weeks more of favorable weather to place it beyond injury from frost Of course this does not apply to the condition of the crop in southern Kan sas and thence eastward to Tennessee and Kentucky vanced where the crop is now well ad |
