At California Bar J L Haskill of the Henry mountains has been in the city the past week waiting for the return of George Goss from tho east which is daily expected These gentlemen gen-tlemen are engaged in placer mining on California bar between Dandyand Halls crossing on the Colorado They are using sluice boxes and plates but have suspended operations for a while after taking out from 1500 to 2000 in gold on account of high water Soon after Mr Goss arrival it Is the intention to return and resume work The plant at the bar is fully equipped and a successful run is anticipated the balance of the season The placer gold at this point is fine but unusually clean Mr laskill says that there are some excellent gold prospects on Mt Hiller while at Mt Ellen the Bromide mine is making an excellent showing The owners are employing sixteen men and taking out p100 a day with their five stamp mill about halt tho value of tho ore Being lost in the tailings East of the Bromide about seven miles placers have been discovered I dis-covered that yielded e5 a yard in gold These placers can only be worked a few months in the year and then by snow water The putlook for this region Is excellent I ex-cellent and in Mr Haskills opinion some big properties will be yet found here Mining Journal
