I CLOSING EXERCISES AT YALE Tho Celebration by tho Alumni Assumed I A Destructive Nature NEW HAVEN Conn June 28 Closing exercises took place at Yale today The class which is from all departments of the university received their diplomas this year is the largest which ever left Yale being 418 Among the honorary degrees conferred were L L D Hon Wilson S Bissell class of 69 postmaster general William H Taft class of 78 United States circuit judge M A Daniel Dan-iel H Burnham director of works at the Worlds fair The celebration last night by the Yale alumni assumed a destructive nature A big bon fire was lighted and shutters torn off the old south college to feed the flames The building was set on fire by firecrackers but tbo flames were put out with little damage Two seniors I Pop I Bliss foot ball player and Ralph Bird sell had their features badly marred by firecrackers A letter box was blown up by a cannon firecracker and valuable mail matter was badly damaged The penalty for this crime is twenty years in prison Every effort is being made by the local postal authorities to discover the perpetrators
