| Show BULLIOKBECK RESUMPTION The Union Miners Reject a Proposition of tile Directors At a meeting the directors of the Bul lionBeck and Champion Mining company held in this city last Monday the following follow-ing resolution was adopted That the manager be and is hereby instructed to resume work in the Bullion Beck and Champion companys mine with a limited number of men provided he can secure competent miners at 250 a day and good laborers at 2 per day It was also expressed as the unanimous sentiment of the directors that the former scale of wages should be restored when silver shall have reached and remained for a period of one calendar month at the value of 95 cents per ounce or over said scale to be maintained so long as silver remains re-mains worth 95 cents per ounce or over They also regretted the necessity of reducing re-ducing wages at all and trusted it would not long continue President Thatcher VicePresident Beck and Manager Hyde immediately went to Eureka and laid the proposition outlined in the above resolution before the miners Following is the proposition submitted sub-mitted by them That the miner resume work at a general gen-eral reduction of 50 cents per day i e 5250 for miners and 52 for laborers the reduction to continue until silver shall reach and remain at 95 cents for one calendar calen-dar month By an overwhelming vote the miners rejected the proposition but it is understood i under-stood that they are preparing a counter proposition which they will submit to the company The resolution passed by the directors indicates that the company proposes to i resume work i miners can be secured at the reduced scale I is stated on behalf I of the company that the mine cannot be operated at a profit under any other conditions con-ditions The resumption of work means the putting in circulation every month of about 20000 not a dollar of which goes out of the territory Nearly 250 men were employed when the mine closed down Rich Indian Crook Ore By far the richest piece of rock ever found in the county was brought to town yesterday by Orson AIred from near the Prickley Pear in the Sheep Rock country on Indian creek Various guesses have been ventured upon what it will assay I and none have been less than 20000 to the ton I was from piece offloat rock the size of a mans fist and fairly bristled with the precious metal It was found on the claim located by Messrs John M Murdocfc Orson Allred Samuel I Hooton and Ward Christian Beaver I Utonian |
