OCR Text	Show THE LAW under which it was sought to debar MITCHELL the jawsmith from sculling himself ashore from an ocean I vessel the other day prescribes that an alien immigrant who shall have been convicted of felony or other crime or misdemeanor shall not be permitted to land Whether the offense for which he was confined abroadthat of beating a womanwas a felony is doubted and certainly MITCHELL is not an immigrant in the intended sense He travelled in the first cabin of the steamer as a tourist tour-ist But the discussion of the case has shown that at any rate MITCHELL is avery a-very unwelcome visitor
