Show SENATORELECT KYLE of South Dakota seems to be intoxicated with the exuber rance of his own verbosity or words to that effect He talks too much and to too little purpose THE HERALD heretofore feltconstrained to predict that Mr KYLE when he leaves the Senate will be a good deal smaller man than when he enters even in his own opinion We dont like cranks in places which should be occupied by statesmen and KYLE is developing all the characteristics of a crank and a bigheaded big-headed one at that For instance during the last presidential campaign cam-paign he was an enthusiastic prohibitionist prohi-bitionist and proclaimed that anything any-thing short of the absolute suppression of tho liqnor traffic was a compromise with sin and a league with helL Now the gentlemen gentle-men says he is in favor of local option and describes himself as antiprohibition antiplutocracy and antihightarlff Observation = Ob-servation has taught us that it is well to be susnicious of men who have too much of the anti in their profession of principles We would think a great deal more of Senator i Sen-ator KYLE if his modesty were in better harmony with his youth and if he was not so much given to magnifying his own importance i I im-portance |
