| Show TIIB IDAHO DKMOOBACr The Jeffersonian Democratic club of Boise City at its first regular meeting fol owing the maudlin speech by Mr R S IPEXCE took occasion to emphatically rep re-p the mans utterances and to properly prop-erly characterize the Republican schemers who had worked SPESCU The follow lng preamble nd resolution were unanimously unani-mously adopted and the secretary was intruded s in-truded t send a copy to every Demo ratic newspaper in tho state Whereas The Jeffersonian Democratic clUb of Boise City has earned with great regret t hat certain leading RepublIcans of this city iouspircd with advised and induced one R S SPEC who has heretofore been identified with tho Mormons In the southeastern part of his state to attend an open meeting held by s idclub oil the night of the ISth inst i and Whereas Said Republicans accompanied aid SPENCE to said meeting for the purpose as vo believe of having him called on to speak and andWhereas Whereas This club has since learned by tho most conclusive exldcnco that this was a plot deliberately planned devised and carried out by the aforesaid Republicans with a view to aid the Republican scheme now on foot in Iho southeastern part of tho state to organize a separate sep-arate and distinct antiMormon party for tho purpose of detracting and dividing the strength of th Democratic party and Whereas This club recognize the Mormon question as foreVer settled and eliminated from politics In this state by the provisions of tho state constitution be i therefore Metolved That this club deprecates the action of the aforesaid Republicans in their reprehensible rep-rehensible attempt to revive the vexed question ques-tion or MormoniSm which has been put to final rest by the state constitution and do emphatically em-phatically repudiate tho said Senses and all iiis utterances and also condemn all such Republican Re-publican schemes and tricks as unjustified and disgraceful to any political party that resorts to such practices As the Jeffersonian club of Boise City is the leading Democratic club of tho state its utterances may bo accepted as those of the Idaho Democracy The Democrats are making the fight for control of tho now governmon on legitimate lines They recognize tho fact that tho Mormon question ques-tion has bean solved so far as it relates to the politics of Idaho They understand as every intelligent man understands that the constitution and laws of Idaho deny to Mormons the right to vote hold office and sit upon juries and that while the provi sicn in the constitution exists and tho laws remain Mormons can neither assist nor oppose either party at the polls The Republican realize the danger there is of losing the election They fear that in a fair contest con-test the Democrats will outnumber them and win henco the effort to make it appear that tho Mormons are still an element in I the fight and in this way lead off a few antiMormon cranks Tho SPENU espisode was part of the Republican dirty scheme as exposed in our telegraphic columns the other morning We do not believe the game will be played with any degree of success The Democrats see through it and are refusing to draw chestnuts from the fire for FunD Dunois and his fellow conspirators who are planning to carry Idaho in their trousers pockets using it for their personal gain and benefit We do not believe any intelligent intel-ligent Democrat will be duped and led astray to the injury of his own party and we do not believe there aro enough of the ignorant and fanatic class to cut any figure in the contest no matter how they may conduct themselves Wo believe tho Democrats are in tho majority and that they will win at the first state election |
