| Show JUDGE JURTCH IS BACK Hc Speaks of Utah Politics and Industrl Prospects The skirmish line of the straightout Republicans has been ordered in after the recent little rencounter at the national capital capi-tal Judge Bartch reported yesterday looking well with no wounds to complain of and greatly pleased with his trip He went direct to Philadelphia from hero and there met 1 host of old time tme friends some even from beyond the Delaware Dela-ware and to these said the judge 1 explained the object of my visit and the situation in Utah as understood it I is needless to say that they expressed a readiness to aid us by all means in their power Tnere seems to have been some misunderstanding mis-understanding as to my position relative to Judge McBride The territorial Repub licaa committee had appointed me to take tho placo as the member of tho national committee from Utah in the event of a vacancy being declared I soon found that the present member was not opposed to us and I used all my influence to keep him on the committee The only contest was such as Mr Tatlock made on behalf of the Liberal Lib-eral Republican committee TiE QUESTIOX OF STATEHOOD was never mentioned and cut no figure in the contest All we asked for was recognition recog-nition as straightout regular Republicans and we secured all that wo could desire Whatever part I took in this matter was prompted by a desire to help the whole people of this territory and the best way to accomplish this Ii i to drop the old tight and all work for tho social and material ad ivancomeut Utah To do this good politics lil fn toTgu tis de tics must be invoked to our aid The eastern east-ern people feol a strong interest in Utah one that i growing every day and thero Is a general desire on their part that old strifes should cease They do not agree with some of the Republicans and a few ol tho Democrats who maintain that the division di-vision movement will bo detrimental but on the contrary they hold that the sooner it is accomplished the quicker will wo have their full confidence both in politics and business Our entire delegation worked in harmony har-mony and I accord our success to this fact We were from different sections of the union and each had some friends who could be seen that would lend an ear and then a helping hand We took no sides on issues in which we had no immediate concern we kept our main object steadily in view and worked for its accomplishment and we feel that the results will redound to the good of our party and territory I like Utah better than ever and never ost a chance to talk for her material as well as political interests I arced unon all whom met the advantages to bo found here and insisted that i they came west Utah was the place If the sober industrious indus-trious and energetic men who desire to better their condition will come here and exorcise tho same euro as to business and personal habits they will improve their chances many fold and succeed In the matter of investments alone Utah can furnish not only tho same character char-acter of security as is demanded in Pennsylvania Penn-sylvania but the increase in values which is growing every day enhances it All admit that Salt Lake is the contro of a circle GOO miles in diameter which will furnish the material to build a great city and tho sooner we have tho political question ques-tion settled in the right way the sooner will these good results materialize and prosperity prosper-ity mark our era Tho judgo went right to work on his arrival ar-rival and probate court is in full blast |
