NEW YOKK The Republicans of Now York or some of them feel very much outraged and Incensed I censed that the efforts to count in a Republican Re-publican majority of the members of the general assembly came to naught Their policy ot vociferously claiming everything and cheating the Democrats out of theIr rightful cb represontntlves from Tii DEN down to Born has for once been balkedand they are mad Indeed there is a great deal of Meaning In having a Democratic governor and legislature legis-lature in New York aside from tho effect upon tho next presidential election which is incalculable It means correction tardy though It be ot along a-long term of Injustice to popular representation represen-tation and the restoration to the people of rights persistently withheld Among these is an opportionment of the votes of citlzans into suitable congressional districts dis-tricts and other political divisions according accord-ing to population so that representation may ba fair and homogeneous It means a convention to frame a new constitution such us is generally demanded Other reforms re-forms and legislative Improvements it means of great value to the state And to this work the Democracy will address itself with zoal intelligence and patriotism patriot-ism
