A Whole Family Burned to Death DETROIT Mich Dec IThe most appalling ap-palling catastrophe that has visited Detroit De-troit since the burning of the Tilden school a couple of years ago took place about 2 oclock this morning A fire broke out in the grocery store of George J Rels 332 Orleans street and communicating to the dwelling house over head stnoth ered to death Charles Rels aged 221 and his brothers Josie and EddIe aged 11 and 7 years The two latter children were found in bed and the older boy was discovered discov-ered by the firemen lying upon the floor before the window as if he had attempted to make his escape by that egress The father and mother were found locked in each others arms at the foot of the stairs leading out into the yard They were burned to a crisp in endeavoring to reach the open air Two other children Max aged fifteen end Tony aged twelve and a a hired girl whose name could not be ascertained ascer-tained escaped by jumping out of the windows win-dows into tbe arms of the police and firemen fire-men
