| Show GRlil PLEASURE It is noted that now and then an Idah editor plucks up courage to congratulate the people > on having a state government We Imagine the boast has no heart in it Certainly I it arouses no pleasing sensations in the hearts of the massesthe great majority ma-jority who hold no office and simply pay the taxes We have heard a number of Idaho citizens talk about the state and we do not now recall one who was jubilant I though many have said they would gladly return to a territorial condition with all its annoyances and abuses It has always seemed to us that oar neighbor asked for and got a little more than she really wanted when she was admitted to the Union end thrown upon her own resources The politicians were well enough pleased for they were installed in offices with salary I sal-ary attachments but the common folks have never been able to discover that the I government which is costing them so much more is greatly superior to the old order of I things Time of course will bring relief As the population increases and resources are developed tho burden will become lighter when the advantages of statehood will appear but the first few years of slate government in Idaho are not likely to be joyous Dues for tile masses The three votes which the gem of the mountains will cast in the electoral college will be I found to be pretty expensive ballots |
