Show BtfL AwaBfts Viewmont win. Coach Hall remembers that game well. "I told my players to play off him and make him hurt us. He did but I won't make that mistake again this year." Stopping the 6'8" White is only one problem for the Braves. Another is slowing down Norm Parrish who has gone on a scoring rampage lately. Then too they have to contend with the quickness of Kyle Morrell who Coach Hall notes "can (hange any game around." JOHN COX and Guy Zwahlen round out the starting five and these two have hurt some folks when no attention has been given them. Scott Mabey and David Petersen will also come off the bench to give the Vikes a lift. Bountiful will counter with their main scoring threat Danny Dan-ny Bell. At 6'4" he'll be counted on heavily, not only to score but to also help out on the boards. Mike Woodbury 6'5") and Richie Weight (6'2") will start up front and will have their hands full with the taller Vikings. TERRY FERRELL and Todd Smith will probably get the start at guards with Lex Brown coming off a bad ankle ready for duty. If the height of the Vikings gets to the Braves, then Coach Hall can always go to his bench and call on some of his sophomore giants. It's "All for All" week for the Braves and they want nothing no-thing better than a victory over the Vikings. Strange things have happened when these two have met in athletics and this year will be no exception. By DAVE WIGHAM BOUNTIFUL All those practice games and sessions are over. This week they play for keeps. As luck would have it the annual war between Viewmont and Bountiful is first up on the agenda. THIS YEAR, more than ever, it looks like a mismatch on paper with the Vikings being the heavy favorites. As anyone connected with this rivalry will tell you though, throw out the paper and records re-cords when these two meet. Bountiful Coach Mike Hall had a few observations about the game. "Viewmont was great last year and they haven't ha-ven't gotten any worse this year." He went on to add that the home floor seems to work in reverse in these battles. "The game's on our floor, so they should be favored." Remember Re-member last season both clubs won on the opposing floor. VIEWMONT COACH Ron Johansen echoed these words. "It's been a few years since the home team has won in this series. Both sides seem to play better on the road." While it is true that records don't mean much when these two collide one should take a look at them. The Vikings have proved to be one of the top JA clubs around, compiling an impressive im-pressive preseason record which saw them drop only two ball games. Bountiful meanwhile, mean-while, has played right around the .500 mark. VIEWMONT HAS three starters back from a year ago when they tied these Braves for the league championship. Bountiful doesn't have a returning re-turning player. In fact the Braves lost their top nine players play-ers to graduation. The lineup for the Vikings is set while Coach Hall is still looking for (hat magic unit. IT WAS LAST year when these Vikings went up to Bountiful and young sophomore sopho-more named John White scored 12 fourth-quarter points to lead Viewmont to the |
