Show Davis Leaders Seek More Info On Tram FARMINGTON Davis County Council of Government Govern-ment (COG) has decided to wait until they receive more information in-formation before deciding on a proposal by the Federal Aviation Avia-tion Administration (FAA) to build a tram from Kaysville to the radar station on top of Francis Peak. TWO MAJOR problems concerning COG, which is comprised of city mayors and county commissioners, are (I) whether the tram would have public access and (2) whether the federal agencies (FAA and Civil Aeronautics Agency) which operate the radar station will continue to maintain the road that is presently used to gain access to the peak. COG officials said they would like to delay endorsement endorse-ment of the trm proposal until after an impact study, including includ-ing the twu questions presented, pre-sented, could be completed. MEMBERS SAID they had htard rumors that if the tram is approved, all maintenance up Farmington Canyon by the CAA and FAA would be discontinued. dis-continued. The road is pre sently kept open and good repair re-pair year-around to accommodate accommo-date personnel who work at the station. Also, Kaysville Mayor Gar Elison said there has been indication in-dication by the FAA and CAA that they would want to restrict res-trict public access to the tramway. tram-way. The mayor said. this would hinder the city from developing de-veloping recreation sites on city-owned property on the face of the mountain. THUS, THE COG board delayed de-layed acticn until more information infor-mation was obtained, grb |
