Show School Bu ndaries Will Be Changed By GARY R. BLODGETT FARMINGTON New boundaries for the proposed Mueller Park Jr. High School and revised boundaries of four other junior high schools in south Davis County are expected to be approved by the Davis Board of Education later this month. THERE WILL ALSO be one slight change in the boundary between Viewmont and Bountiful high schools which will involve in-volve about 50 to 60 students, according to Gayle Stevenson, assistant superintendent. superinten-dent. He said this change would involve moving mov-ing the present boundary between 200 West and 800 East from 300 South to Center Street. WHEN THIS boundary was shifted to 300 South a couple of years ago it met with bitter opposition from students and parents of the area whose older children and brothers and sisters had previously attended Bountiful High. With the change, the revised boundary will again place students in schools previously pre-viously attended by their older brothers and sisters, it was explained. OTHERWISE, THE boundary changes will affect primarily the new junior high school and four other junior high schools in the area. few years." the assistant superintendent said. Stevenson. "Some changes are necessary not only because of completion of the new school (Mueller Park Jr. High), but to relieve overcrowded conditions in other schools." HE EXPLAINED that the new school will accommodate a maximum of 750 students stu-dents but should open in the fall of 1981 with only about 650 students. "We have already planned for an additional addi-tional eight classrooms on the south end of the school which would give us a capacity of about 950 to 1,000 students, when needed," he said. "Otherwise, we don't foresee any more major changes in school boundaries or construction of new junior high schools in the area for at least five or six years." HE NOTED THAT Millcreek Jr. High has an enrollment of approximately l.(XK) students and uses four portable classroom units: Bountiful Jr. High was designed for about 750 students and presently has an enrollment of about 675; South Davis Jr. High has an enrollment of about 1 . 100 and uses five portable classroom units; and Centerville Jr. High uses two portable classrooms clas-srooms to help facilitate about 875 students. stu-dents. However, Centerville's projected enrollment enroll-ment is expected to remain about the same: Millcreek Jr. High will have a projected enrollment of 768; and South Davis Jr. High should decrease its enrollment to about ab-out 960. "THIS MEANS THAT all of the schools will be under their capacity for 1981 and should remain under capacity for the next Highway 106, north up the middle of State 106 to 1500 South, east up the middle of 1500 South to Davis Blvd., and up the middle mid-dle of Millcreek Canyon to the mountains.
