BONNEVILLE'S Ed Eye-stone Eye-stone finished highest of all Region One athletes as this great distance runner took the two mile event. Viewmont's Kelly Gibbs was sixth in the same event giving the local region a couple of point getters. get-ters. Kevin Sorenson of Weber and Bart Thompson of Davis performed well in their specialty, the pole vault Kevin took third while Bart placed sixth. DEFENDING 3A champion Mark Davenport from Davis placed second in the high jump. The cold weather and wind seemed to affect all the jumpers as the winning jump was well below the standard most of the jumpers have reached. The local schools also did well in the relay events with Davis taking second and Bonneville Bon-neville fourth in the medley event and Bonneville a second and Layton a fifth in the mile relay. USING this as a gauge the Region One athletes will be reckoned with in the state meet while Davis looks to be strong in 3A again. |
