Show Do you remember when the last big hailstorm, snowstorm, snow-storm, electrical storm, flash-flood, flash-flood, tornado, damaging wind, heat wave, or other unique weather event happened hap-pened to you or your community? com-munity? If so then there are some research scientists who would like to hear from youl THE researchers are: Dr. Dale J. Stevens, associate professor of geography, and Dr. Laren R. Robison, professor of agronomy at Brigham Young University, Mark E. Eubank, a profes sional meteorologist and well-known television weather forecaster; and R. Clayton Brough, a meteorology me-teorology instructor, also Ralph J. Snelson, a mathematics instructor associated as-sociated with the Springville Weather Station, in Springville. Spring-ville. . The five researchers are' asking that "any individual who has information or pictures pic-tures relating to any unique, unusual, or extreme weather phenomena that has happened hap-pened to them or their Utah community over the past 100 years," to write down the event, the time, date, place and person(s) to whom it happened, the damage or deaths it caused, the reference the information came from (such as whether it came from a diary, local newspaper or magazine), and then send the information, including any pictures, to them as soon as possible. RESEARCHERS state that they are in the process of working on the publication of a future "Utah Weather Almanac," Al-manac," which among other things will describe the historical his-torical climate and weather events that have occurred throughout the State of Utah, particularly over the last 100 years. The men.state that "the information" in-formation" anyone could send them will be greatly appreciated, noted, and utilized if appropriate in their upcoming publication. STATED DR. Stevens: "We need more information about unique or unusual weather phenomena, such as major hailstorms, snowstorms, electrical storms, flashfloods, tornadoes, landslides caused by heavy precipitation, heat waves, or other unique weather events that have happened in Utah communities, communi-ties, particularly those that happened during the period of 1875 to 1955." Mr. Brough added: "If someone is unsure about whether his or her weather event is "unique" enough, they can always send it in and we will respond back. We are looking forward to receiving anyone's response, and we will return all information and pictures if requested. WE FEEL this is a great opportunity for those people who have good memories, records or diaries, to participate par-ticipate in helping reconstruct recon-struct Utah's climatic history. his-tory.
