Show Hayakawa Speaks On Slavery Senator S. I. Hayakawa (R-' (R-' Calif) told a party gathering in Jacksonville, Florida, recently the guilt complex which plagues whites, about slavery, is leading many to re-enslave the nation's blacks. HE SAID misguided and well-meaning charity programs. offering something for nothing almost indefinitely, tend to enslave recipients. Hayakawa said blacks today need a strong, free enterprise en-terprise system far more than they need welfare, food stamps and handouts, although this might be hard for many to understand. HAYAKAWA says the Republican Party's strong belief in the free enterprise system distinguishes it from many Democrats, who tend to believe bigger and bigger government can solve national na-tional problems. He says the poor and jobless will find more permanent employment, and a better life, in gaining jobs in an expanding ex-panding free enterprise system sys-tem than in accepting government charity. AND IF all the historic economic achievements of America in the past are not to be ignored, he is, generally speaking, right. |
