Auditions will be held on October Oc-tober 15th and 16th at View-mont View-mont High School to select outstanding performers in the South Davis area to supply programs for clubs and organizations or-ganizations requesting this service. THE NEWLY-FORMED Bountiful Community Theater Guild has established specific goals to help promote high ' quality entertainment in the Bountiful area. In addition to supporting the Bountiful . Community Theater, talent will be stimulated and strengthened by the S-tablishment S-tablishment of a talent file.- Under the direction of Barbara Bar-bara Belnap, a committee has been formed to first, dis- cover, and second,' assemble a list of available talent in our -area. The committee will then act as a type of booking agent to bring together people in need of performing with people in need of performers. IN ORDER to assure the Guild and the public that the talent that is sent out is of the finest quality, auditions for individuals and groups will be held at Viewmont High School on Friday, October 15th from 7:00 - 10:00 p.m., and on Saturday, Sa-turday, October 16th, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Appointments Ap-pointments for auditions must be made during the days of October 11th through 15th, by calling Deanna Avis at 295-9107. Appointments are essential as there will be professional performers present to evaluate each act and neither the judges nor the performers present will have to waste time waiting. All acts must stay within a 3-5 minute time limit. Parts of two or three numbers may be presented to give those evaluating a better idea of the performer's repertoire. THE FOUR focus areas of these talent auditions are speech-drama, vocal, instrumental, ins-trumental, and dance. Included in the speech-drama area will be "M.C.s", dramatic and humorous reading, storytelling, mime, one-act plays, reader's theater, comedians,' magicians, and other acts The newly-organized Bountiful Community Theater Guild will hold auditions on October 15 and 16 to discover dis-cover local talent. The Guild will work to promote high standards in entertainment in the area. requiring speech or drama to entertain. Participants in the vocal category will include individuals in-dividuals as well as groups of any size. At this time, the file needs only the names of complete acts. Each performer per-former must bring his own accompanist. Later, workshops will be held to bring trios together or unite accompanists with vocalists. INSTRUMENTALISTS also may perform in any size group. They will be asked to bring their own instruments except for pianists who wilt have the use of a Viewmont High School piano. Especially requested in this area are accompanists ac-companists who can sight read and those who know how to transpose and innovate. . Dancers must bring their own music and record players or tape recorders. A piano will be furnished for their use if necessary. Included in the dancing category will be gymnasts and anyone else whose talent focus requires physical movements similar to dance. THOSE WHO are interested in requesting talent will be given details of how to do so at a later date. Right now, group and individual performers per-formers are urged to polish their acts to present them for auditions on October 15th and 16th. |
