Show Approval Given On Housing Complex For Sr. Citizens BOUNTIFUL - Approval has been received by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for a 48-unit public housing complex for senior citizens in Bountiful, according to Rosemary Davis, executive director of the Davis County Housing Authority. SHE SAID the property that the Authority proposes to buv at 1265 North Main Bountiful, has been approved bv HUD but that the 3.6 acres must first be rezoned by Bountiful City Counc, from Residential-3 to allow for the more dense housing. Before this can be done, however, a public hearing must be held Nov. 2 at 7 p m. in the Bountiful City Council Chambers on the rezoning proposal. IF THE rezoning is approved, the Authority mus E meet with the Bountiful Board of Adjustments on Dec iHor a variance that would allow 14 more units per acre than normally is allowed in that area. Ms. Davis said that if the rezoning and variance requests are approved, bids could be let in January and construction on the multi-unit apartments could begin in early spring. IT WOULD be the first such housing complex for senior citizens in Bountiful. The proposed site is in a sparsely populated area that is now a fruit orchard. HUD specifications for the housing complex include that the units must be within one-half one-half mile of a shopping center and in close proximity to a well-traveled transportation system, grb |
