Show Census To Survey Employment In Area Local representatives of the Bureau of the Census will conduct a survey of employment in this area during dur-ing the work week of Nov. 19-23, 1979, Leo C. Schilling, director of the Bureau's regional office in Denver, announced an-nounced today. THE SURVEY is conducted for the U.S. Department of Labor in a scientifically designed sample of approximately 76,000 households throughout, the United States. Employment -and unemployment statistics basedon results of this survey are used to provide a continuing con-tinuing measure of the economic health of the nation. For example, in September the survey indicated that of the 103.5 million men and women in the civilian labor force, 97.5 million were employed. The nation's unemployment was 5.8 percent, per-cent, down from 6.0 percent in August INFORMATION supplied by individuals participating in the survey is kept strictly confidential by law and the results are used only to compile com-pile statistical totals. 1 |
