Show ' " " . ' .. Maude Reld Moore Services held Friday for Maude Reid Moore Tribute was paid to Maude Reid Moore at funeral services held in the Moab L.D.S. Church on Friday, Sept. 9, 2:00 p.m. as her many friends and relatives filled the chapel in respect. A life-long resident of Moab until the past 10 years. She died Tuesday, Sept. 6 in a Provo hospital of a lingering illness. Maude was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormon). (Mor-mon). She was born in Moab on March 31, 1896 to Joseph Philip and Alice Kennison Miller, grew up here and graduated from Grand County High School. She was married to Robert J. Reid, Sr. in 1917 and to them were born 4 children: Joseph Kirkwood Reid of Palo Alto, Calif., Ruth Scorup of Othello, Washington, Washing-ton, Marjorie J. Stewart of Springfield, Ore., and Robert J. Reid, Jr. of Salt Lake City. Mr. Reid preceded Maude in death in 1932. Later she married Frank Moore in 1937 and a son Donald Frankie Moore was born. He died at the age 17. She is survived by her 4 children, 18 grandchildren, grandchild-ren, and 25 great-gTandchild-ren, a brother, Ralph J. Miller, Sr., and 2 sisters, Beula Caillet and Madge Warde, all of Moab. The fruitfulness of Maude Reid Moore's life here on this earth and the contributions she made to the community, her many friends and her family were expressed by Bishop Howard Lance, speaker speak-er at her services. She had a heart of gold and always helped persons who were less fortunate than she, had a wonderful sense of humor and a photographic mind being able to recite poetry she learned years ago. Maude was known as the "sunshine lady" in the hospital. hos-pital. Son-in-law Carl Scorup gave the family prayer at the 1 p.m. viewing, and at the services Mrs. C.J. (Gwyn) Meador and Mrs. Val (Marie) Maughn sang a duet, "Whispering Hope" accompanied by Genevieve Gene-vieve Holyoak. Jack Stewart and Jimmey Walker sang "Beyond the Sunset." The invocation was given by Howard Balsley, the closing prayer was offered by David Scorup, a grandson, and dedication of the grave was by Glen Coffman. Interment took place in Grand Valley Ceme-tary. Ceme-tary. There were 24 Utah Highway High-way Patrolmen from all over the state who came to pay their respect, and some were honorary pallbearers. The pallbearers were Maude's grandsons. There were 42 ' of Maude's immediate relatives rela-tives who came from all parts to honor this woman. |
