Show 100th Birthday Celebration Set by YWMIA A Centennial Reception celebrating cel-ebrating the lOCth year of the Young Women's Mutual improvement Association was held Tuesday night at the Moab LDS Cultural Hall. Girls 12 years of aige and' up, dressed dress-ed in long old fashioned dresses, from tlie three Moab wards, were accompanied by their mothers along with officers of-ficers and teachers of the YWMM. The hall was decorated decor-ated using the thomo "Pioneers "Pion-eers .in Petticoats." Kay Rich was ttlre program narrator nar-rator with a special musical number by Sharon Patterson, Linda Nicol, first ward president pre-sident presented Tharla L. llolyoak, president of San Juan Stake YWMIA with a beautiful quilt made by the three Moab wards. Each Laurel class from the three Moab wards picked a "special "spe-cial lady" whom they chose to honor. First ward Laural fcirls chose Linda Nicol, President of their YWMIA. Second ward (honored Lorraine Lor-raine Lcavitt and third ward girls honored their teacher Vonna McDougall. A film entitled en-titled "Pioneers in Petticoats" Petti-coats" was a highlight of tha evening after which old fash-poned fash-poned strawberry shortcake was served. Such a celebration celebra-tion will not occur again for another 100 years. |
