Show FUNERAL SERVICE TODAY FOR EARLY SETTLER Funeral services will be conducted con-ducted in the First ward chapel today at 3 p. m., for Levi Gregory Greg-ory Metcalf, 85, pioneer of this city, who died in Provo Sunday evening of ailments Incident to his age. He was born in Springville in the old fort, on March 19, 1859, and lived in this city and at Ma-pleton Ma-pleton during his early life. In 1912, with his family, he moved to Richfield, Ida., where he engaged en-gaged in farming and cattle-raising until 1930 when they returned to Utah. He was a member of the L. D. S. church and took an active part in church and civic affairs during his early life. He wa3 a talented musician and his services were in demand at dances and other early-day entertainments. enter-tainments. He married Margaret Llewellyn, on Jan. 27, 1881, in the endowment house, Salt Lake City, and they were among the longest-married in this vicinity. Surviving are the widow and seven sons and daughters, Frank Metcalf, Springville; Mrs. Blake Palfreyman and Mrs. Hilton Robertson, Rob-ertson, Phovo; Mrs. Mae Gunder-son, Gunder-son, Redlands, Calif., Levi G. Metcalf, Met-calf, Berkeley, Calif. Burton R. and William Earl Metcalf, Richmond, Rich-mond, Cal., also thirty-one grandchildren, grand-children, eleven of whom are i: the armed forces, and forty-three great-grandchildren. |
