Show DELINQUENTS IN WAR TAX FOUND Nearly 1800 Evaded Payment in Utah. Internal Department Depart-ment Reports SALT LAKE. July 31. Nearly 1800 delinquents In payment of special tuxes on soft drinks, amusements, drugs and other articles of the same class have been uncovered In Utah as a result of a special campaign which has been conducted by the department ot Internal revenue since April 1 This was the statement mude yesterday b D. Many i .ti-i hnf b.-en uncovered when- business houses have collected the tax from customers but have failed to pay It over to the collector. These delinquents have boen subjected to an especially heavy penally. Others professed pro-fessed Ignorance but Inasmuch as It has long been the policy of the department depart-ment In Utah to furnish all information informa-tion possible for the guidance of the taxpayer. Ignorance un not be accepted ac-cepted as an excuse The special drlvo to uncover de-llnnuents de-llnnuents will be continued until Aug 15. This will, howev er. by no means end the tax collection this year as the returns and moneys are due each month. i i r |
