Show OGDEN SALT LAKE HIGHWAY The Writer rooalls the stories related to him by Webor county pioneers of the long and tedious trips they made to Salt Bake City I by ox or horse teams in the yean before the railroad connected tho I two eities. I There was hardly more than a rough trail between the oom- I munities in those days and the travelers consider j themselves fortu- I nate if the jonrnej by wagon was made in one ilay, even with the H start taking place early in the morning. I Quite often the plan was to take tho trip by easy stages, spend- H ing the night at the balf-waj house in Kaysville H And now that old trail has hern covered with a ribbon of eon- H crete. Salt Lake City is but little more than an hour away by H automobile or train. H The completion of the concrete highway connecting Utah's H prineipal cities is to ! celebrated at a tri-county event at Lagoon M at which there will be many pioneers who have made the trip over the same road when it was a rough trail. Altogether the event is well worth celebrating and it should be interesting to hear the rem-iniicent rem-iniicent conversations that take place that day. |
