Show i - - - : Native of Cedar City dies services held Funeral services were held Saturday, July 8 at the Cedar Tenth Ward Chapel for Cedar City native George Washington Washing-ton Hunter, 77, who died Tuesday, Tues-day, July 5 at the Valley View Medical Center of natural causes. A rancher and livestock-man, who spent his entire life In the Cedar Cfty area. In recent years he accomplished an extensive ex-tensive reseeding conservation program on his property on Cedar Mountain. He was a member of the American Legion, Le-gion, the Escalante Knife and Fork Club, the Utah Cattlemen's Cattle-men's Association, the Cedar City Chamber of Commerce and the Utah Farm Bureau. He was a member of the LDS Church. He was born Feb. 22, 1895 a son of George and Jamima Lunt Hunter. iHe married Caroline Caro-line Reibecca Sehoppmann, she died. Married Isabelle Ruby Ipsen, she died April 20, 1970. Speakers at the services included in-cluded Pat Fenton and Theo McKean with remarks by Bishop Warren Spencer, who conducted. Family prayer was given Iby Ira Schoppmann; invocation in-vocation by Scott Chamberlain, Chamber-lain, the benediction' by D. Parry Mackelprang and the dedication of the grave at the Cedar City Cemetery was by Harry Hair. Musical selections included a vocal trio, consisting of Jackie Griffin, Lynetta Jensen and Marie Spencer singing "Oh My Father," and a vocal solo, "Beyond the Sunset," by Ralph Hafen. Prelude and postlude music was by Carol Spencer. Surviviors Include sons and daughter: George Eugene, Dwane, both of Toquerville; Mrs. Claude (Afton) Smith, LaVerkin; and two step daughters, Mrs. Forrest (Reta) Anderson, Cedar City land Mrs. William R. (Aileen) Cressall, Virginia. v Also surviving are eight grandchildren and 21 greatgrandchildren. |
