Show Last Rites Accorded Burnis Barton After Sudden Death Funeral services were held in the Cedar Third-Fourth Ward Chapel Monday, July 17, for Stephen Burrus Barton, 67, who died of a heart attack Thursday afternoon, July 13, while at work on a farm in Paragonah. Mr. Barton was born November Novem-ber 5, 1899, in Paragonah, a son of William Penn and Lo- vinia Davenport Barton. He married Ha Clark on June 14, 1922, in the St. George LDS Temple. He was retired employee, Utah State Road Commission, and was a former Cedar City Highway Patrol dispatcher. He had also serviced an Iron County mail route and was a member of the Cedar City Elks, Lodge No. 1556. Survivors include his widow, and the following sons and daughters: Clark Barton, Mrs. Bill (Genevive) McConnell, both of Cedar City; Bruce Bar-jn, Bar-jn, Clearfield; Mrs. Brent (Beatrice) Davis, Fillmore. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren grand-children and the following brothers and sisters: William, Jr.; Mrs. Clark (Bertha) Sho-walter, Sho-walter, Mrs. Rachel Holyoak, all Cedar City; Ken, Milford; Mrs. Zelma Robb, Mrs. Melva Barton, both Paragonah. The funeral services were conducted by Bishop Dan Crawford, and speakers were Dr. J. S. Prestwich and Dennis Mosdell. Invocation was by William Penn Barton, Jr., benediction by John C. Robb, and dedication of the grave by J. Vurge Smith. Prayer at the mortuary prior to the services ser-vices was by Bill McConnell. The musical program included in-cluded a number by a ladies quartet composed of Marilyn Heap, Eleanor Pectol, Anna May Perry, and Thelma Mosdell, Mos-dell, accompanied by Harold Butcher; a vocal solo by Forrest For-rest Hunter, an organ medley by Doris Williams, and a vocal vo-cal duet by Howard and Orma Wood. Prelude and postlude music was by Doris William. A life history of the deceased deceas-ed was given by Ivan Robb. Burial was in the Cedar City Cemetery, where graveside grave-side services were conducted by B.P.O.E. Lodge No. 1556. |
