Show Mr. and Mrs Wayne Banks To i Celebrate Golden Wedding July 1 7 ESCALANTE The children of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Banks will honor their parents with an open house to celebrate their Golden tf; Wedding anniversary in the Escalante Stake Center from 6 until 9 p.m. on July 17. Another open house is scheduled for the Salt Lake 13th Ward chapel, $1 60 South 400 East from 7 until 9 p.m. y on July 19- j Wayne Banks married Glenna 4 Barker, July 16, 1936 in Escalante. J Soon after, they moved to Cedar City where Mr. Banks graduated from Branch Agricultural College and was employed by L.M. Jones Implement Im-plement and Livestock as a bookkeeper and manager. In 1942 they moved to New Mexico where he Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Wilcock was employed by the Army and where he served as an LDS bishop for eight years. In 1963, after a short stay in Washington D.C., they moved to Iowa where Mr. Banks was associated with the U.S. Weapons Command as chief program director. While in Iowa, he served as LDS stake president for 12 years. His wife Glenna worked as alterations expert for J.C. Penney and attended tailoring school in Illinois. They returned to Escalante in 1979. Mr. Banks, an Eagle Scout, has received scouting's Silver Beaver '4 f - . Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Banks award and Woodbadge training. Throughout their lives the Banks have raised horses and ridden pioneer trails, sightseeing and touring across the U.S. Mrs. Banks has served in a variety of capacities in the LDS church, as Relief Society president, Primary president and in other positions. She recently took up motorcycling and has already logged several thousand miles. The Banks are parents of five living children: Douglas Wayne,, Washington, D.C.; Robert James,' Hawaii; Neil, Fort Morgan, Colo;, and twin daughters JoAnne Lon and JoEU Wilford. Two children died young, Jackie Rae and J. Richard. |
