Show ELECTION SHOWS DEFEAT OF BONDS The bond election of yesterday resulted re-sulted in an overwhelming defeat for the bonds. Even in Beaver where it was supposed that all the measures would receive a good majority not one of thorn received any considerable consider-able support. 1 Milford voted for the good roads 16 to 6; tho court house repairs had 9 supporters in Milford and 13 who voted against; the jail repairs received re-ceived the same vote as the court house. Beaver had three precincts and each of the three voted against every proposition ; one 9 to 59. another 5 to 40 against. So tho county will have to jog along with the inconveniences for awhile probably until after the war. There seems to be no disposition disposi-tion on the part of property owners to spend money for public improvements improve-ments or upon private improvements that are not absolutely necessary. No doubt the advice of the Government Govern-ment upon these matters had much to do with such a decisive defeat of the proposed measures for improvements improve-ments which no one doubts are greatly needed. The time was inopportune. inop-portune. The failure to sell the school bonds recently voted also had its influence. |
