She also did extensive research and developed listening programs for students of the school to a point of getting other schools within the district interested in the programs. She also provided in-class volunteer volun-teer service for children and teachers of the school. Ms. Call spent many hours doing volunteer service for Centcrville Elementary School. She has conducted con-ducted mini-art classes for students, stu-dents, helped teachers by listening to students read and correcting student stu-dent papers, and has provided artwork for most of the PTA-sponsored PTA-sponsored school fliers and bulletins. bulle-tins. Ms. Johnson has served as co-chairman co-chairman of the computer program at Columbia Elementary School which involves about 60 parents in computer training and skills. She also organized the school's summer sum-mer reading program and provided instruction sheets for each student. She has three children attending the school and serves as room representative rep-resentative for each student. Mr. Griffith was cited for his contributions to helping students of Hill Field Elementary School to safely cross a busy four-lane street which is located on Hill AFB but the school is off-base. There is no crossing guard at the site where Griffith, a serviceman stationed at the base, helps the students. Thus, Griffith has arranged with his commanding officer to spend the necessary time to assist children chil-dren from approximately 100 military milit-ary families to cross the street. On snowy days, he would arrive early to clear the sidewalk for the youngsters, according to the citation. |
