Show LI. J, Jl-dUl IS DMD Utah Pioneer Dies in Los Angeles of Heart Failure, Fail-ure, Saturday. A special from Los Angeles announces the death Saturday of H. J. Faust of Salt Lake City of heart failure, at the Clifton house In that city. He bad Just returned from a trip to the Irrigation congress as a delegate and had gone to Los Angeles to spend the winter with George Haven, a rancher. Mr. Faust was 73 years old and came to Utah shortly after it was first settled. set-tled. In the early '50 he was made a! mail-carrier between Utah Point and i Los Angeles by President Brlgham Youngy and had several narrow escapes from the Indians. Later be became a station keeper for the pony express service. ser-vice. He was married In Fillmore, Utah, when a young man. He is survived by two sons, H. J. Faust, Jr., and James A. Faust, and two daughters, Elsie A. j Fanst and Mrs. George Taysum. ' Mr. Faust was one of the contractors on the Union Pacific and later on the Oregon ' Short Line between Oranger and Pocatello. He built the first livery stable In Salt Lake and later went Into the wholesale meat business. He was the last bishop appointed by President Brlgham Toung. |
