Show End of the World May Rcsult from Heat. This summer's excessive heat la explained ex-plained by a Chicago scientist In a way calculated to give both chills and fever to that part of humanity which accepts his explanation. He asserta that the earth in Its annual revolution about tha sun Is approaching nearer and nearer to that orb every summer and getting farther and farther away avery winter. The ultimate result, he avers, will be that the Inhabitants of this sphere will be alternately baked and trosen until no living being li left. Professor Ludwlg J. Marlenburger, Ph. D a graduate of the University of Berlin, who speaks ten languagta. Is the exponent of this startling theory. Some scientists have argued that eventually this earth would become a froxen mass: others thst It would In the courue of a few thousand years, be transformed Into an orbicular furnace, fur-nace, which In time would consume itself. Professor Marlenburger says both of these contingencies are quite p rohable. The professor's Idea Is that this globe. In Its orbital revolutions, has "slipped a cog," and that it will continue con-tinue to slip Into ever chsnglng orbits He Is 01 the opinion that the earth Is approaching old age, becoming somewhat some-what decrepit and "wobbly." and has not the amount of Inherent magnetism to maintain Itself In Its proper cnan-nel. cnan-nel. Solstices and the other demonstrations demonstra-tions showing that nearness to tha sun does not make this mundane sphere hotter or colder do not bother Professor Profes-sor Marlenburger. Sun apota and similar sim-ilar phenomena are only incidental and can have little effect A Chicago University profoasor rldl-cities rldl-cities the theory of Prof. Marlenburger SOLID LINK SHOWS THE PLANET 8 PATH AND DOTS REPUTED VARIATIONS. |
