Show LOWS SOLDIER BOYS IRE CHEERED (Special to The Standard.) Logan, June 26, 1916. Logan's troop H, of the N. Q. TJ. left for Fort Douglas this morning accompanied by many of Logan's leading citizens. At a demonstration held yesterday ln honor of the departing boys fully 5,000 people were ln attendance, making oao-of the JargoBt qrowdfl ever aasem, i .j- bled here. Following an automobile parade in which various bands of the county participated, an open air meeting meet-ing was held on the Tabernacle square at which short talks were made by Pres. E. G. Peterson of the U. A. C, E. R, Owen, president of the Logan. Booster's club, Lieutenant Eugene Stanchi, and Mr. Hallett, a veteran of the Civil War. By far tho most important happening happen-ing of the day was the unanimous adoption at this meeting of a resolution resolu-tion to the effect that every male adult of Cacho county pledge himself to contribute monthly to a fund to be raised for tho purpose of providing for tho families and dependents of the boys who are taken away from their usual employments by tho N. G. U. A largo fund is said to be already under un-der process of accumulation for this purpose. Girls dresed In white paraded par-aded the leading streets of tho city yesterday, selling badges bearing the inscription "Our Soldier Boys." From those sales over $1,000 Is said to have been raisod for the purpose of providing provid-ing tho boys with certain luxuries denied de-nied them In the regular army ration. Each speaker at the meeting, while regretting the necessity ne-cessity of seeing our boys go on such a mission, was strong ln the expression expres-sion of tho belief that they .were doing do-ing a willing duty. |
