Twelve thousand Mexican troops are massed opponlte here under Generals Martinez Marti-nez and Estrada, Their base Is at Magdalona, forty-five miles south. 1 Throats of'the Carranzistas to kill ov- ery Chinese in Sonora caused 100 orientals ori-entals to seek refuge in Nogales. Carranzista authorities today released releas-ed all prisoners confined in jails In Sonora border towns, it was learned here tonight. A dozen prisoners were released from the Nogales, Sonora, jail, among them a Mexican held on three separate charges of murder It is believed that tho men are being released re-leased upon a promise to join the Mexican army, and because of the difficulty in obtaining food for them. Numbers of Mexicans crossed the line into Sonora, and took a train for tho south today, among them being General Ramon Iturbc, a Carranza leader, who has been in California purchasing supplies for the de facto government. Aboard the train was F X. Harding, a British subject, who left for San Javier, where he has sugar connections. Detachments of the Arizona national nation-al guard went on border duty here tonight. to-night. A small body of Mexican cav-airy cav-airy appeared today in Nogales, Sonora, So-nora, and it was reported that 1500 troops, which reached Sail Joso, south of Naco, Saturday, had moved east to ward Cabullona today. In spite of protests of citizens here to the customs and military authorities, authori-ties, movement of 'food and other supplies sup-plies to the Mexican side continued today. Several tons each of baled hay, flour and cases labelled "soap" were carted from a local warehouse and loaded on cars In tho Mexican freight ycards. The collector of the port refused to stop the transportation of supplies by wagon, saying that his orders placed an embargo only on goods in freight cars. Colonel W. H. Sage, commanding command-ing officer of the troops, also refused to Interfere. Customs officials made no attempt to search the packages for ammunition |
