Show Interstate 1-15 adds new stretch Travelers through southern Utah will be able to take advantage ad-vantage of an additional 11 miles of Interstate 15 by this fall. The grading and draining phase of a new section of 1-15 between Fillmore and Holden in Millard County is nearing completion and the Utah Transportation Commission opened bids today on the paving contract. Peter Kiewit Sons Construction Company of Murray, Utah, submitted the apparent low bid of $3,493,796. The official engineer's estimate was $4,575,220. The 140 working day contract includes provisions for lane striping and freeway signs to prepare the highway for opening this fall. Completion of this surfacing project will give travelers the convenience of continuous freeway on the 73 mile sjretch from Holden south to Feaver. Total completed Interstate 15 mileage between Holden and the Arizona line will be 157 miles, leaving the freeway only about 22 miles away from completion in that portion of the state. Six of the unfinished 22 freeway miles, immediately south of Beaver to Fremont Wash in Iron County, are now under construction. The remaining 16 mile section, from Fremont Wash to Paragonah, is under design. |
