Show City Council reaffirms policy Sidewalk Sales, parking meters At the meeting of the Cedar City Council Thursday evening, a policy was established on meter "vacationing" and reaffirming policy on sidewalk sales, according ac-cording to Mayor Kerry Jones. Following approval for the downtown merchants to cover meters during a two-day promotion Friday and Saturday the council indicated that in the future meter "vacationing" requests will have to be submitted sub-mitted to the council at least 30 days prior to the promotion and the activity involved must be an ' official and recognized community com-munity affair.. Policy was also reaffirmed, the Mayor reported, supporting city ordinances on sidewalk sales of retail goods. The mayor indicated in-dicated that retail sales will not be permitted on city sidewalks whether it be on Main Street or other locations in the City. The exception to the ordinance enforcement en-forcement will be at those times on the Cedar City Library Board to fill a three year term. Mr. Wheelwright was selected because of his community spirit and financial management background. People interested in developing property and building a motel at 200 North and 1000 West have requested that the HS-1 HS-1 zone in that area be expanded to the North to accommodate their building plans. Land involved in-volved is the Gower Estate and the DeMoin Jones properties. A Public Hearing was called for April 15th to consider the request. The preliminary plat for subdivision development in the Indian Village was presented showing the Paiute Indian Tribal Council as the subdivider. The plat was approved which will clear the way for new housing construction to commence. j A request to annex 600 acres of j residential development! property in the Fiddlers Canyon area was tabled for more study and development of plans for . water storage, water run-off and sewer service. when the retail merchants hold . an areawide sales such as "crazy days" and other summer sidewalk promotions. The City Council gave approval ap-proval to correspond with action taken by the Iron County Board of Commissioners which involved in-volved land sale and trade transactions between Cedar City and Iron County. The City has agreed to buy ZVz acres of land owned by the County in the bottom of the Lund Highway gravel pit which joins the Cedar City Sanitary Landfill. The City and the County have agceed to release to GSA certain land on 100 East Street to provide space for a government office building which is now under construction. And, conditional on the final approval and passage of a bond election to cover the cost of a new Cedar City Administration Building, the City and County have agreed to exchange shares of ownership in property so that I the City can vacate the present - City-County Building and take full ownership of the First East property. .
