Show LOOKING BACK Did you know-That know-That back in the Spring of 1916, Cedar City had a Clean-up Paint-up Paint-up Campaign to make the city not only a clean and beautiful one, but a healthier, happier and more attractive community. They took i pride in Cedar City then we should work to keep it that way now. ! 1 50 years ago The Branch Agricultural College (SUSC) was represented at a stock show held in Salt Lake City. Teams from the high school and college division attended the show. The high school was represented by Howard Thompson, Carl Cox, Ross Urie; and the college by Scott Day, John Adams, Clair Hulet and Wayne Esplin. Wool and sheep exhibits were the main entries in the show; 25 years ago Snow surveys showed a great water shortage at the end of March. The National Park Service revealed there was only about half as much moisture on the water sheds of Cedar Mountain as there was the year before. The water content was 10.25 inches compared to 19.1 inches the year before. 10 years ago-Sterling ago-Sterling Simpkins, Ray Maxwell and Dennis Rollo, Boy Scouts of Troop No. 333 of Cedar City took on the project of promoting National Wildlife Week. Mayor Loren Whetton proclaimed March 20 through 26 as National Wildlife Week in Cedar City and called to the attention of residents the need for preservation and maintenance of our natural resources. , By Dorothy Rogers |
