Show DWR lift ban on Cougars proclamation remains the same as last year with the exceptions of a few changes in the guide requirements. The northern region will again be closed to the taking of bear. Spring Turkey Gobblers will be legal hunting in the same counties as last year from May 1 - 16. Other regulations governing turkey hunting will be the same as in the past. Rifles, shotguns and archery ar-chery equipment are all legal means of taking turkey. : ." i i . V Cougar Recommendations from Division of Wildlife Resources' . Southern Region Supervisor, S. M. "Bid" Clark, and comments from representatives of Utah Big Game Hound Association prompted board members to allow cougar hunting in nine southwestern Utah counties year-round. The following counties will be open all year: Washington, Kane, Iron, Garfield, Gar-field, Beaver, Piute, Wayne Millard and Sevier. General cougar hunting for the rest of the state will run from November 1 through April 15 for the 1976-77 season. The Northern region and the Henry Mountains (encompassing parts of Kane, Garfield and Wayne counties) will be closed to ithe taking of cougar again this year. Cougar may be pursued in the Northern Region but not harvested. The Spanish Fork drainage will be open to pursuit, but no animals can be harvested in that area. Boundaries for the Spanish Fork drainiage will be set at a later date. Each hunter will be limited to taking one courgar statewide. Bear Bear season for 1976 will be open from May 1 June 15 and from Sept. 15 - Oct. 15. The animals may be pursued, however, from May - Oct. 15. The remainder of the bear |
