Show Community members urged to attend American Issues Forum at SUSC Citizens of all ages are invited to do, some soul-searching in regards to America and her position in the world today then to attend a public forum April 7 at Southern Utah State College. "The American Issues Forum is a unique program being held nation-wide to allow individuals to express their opinions and to exchange ideas on important issues," Rodney D Decker, assistant professor of political science, notes. The topic for the April 7 meeting is "America in the World -- A Nation Among Nations." The forum will be held in Old Main 206 from 6:30 - 9 p.m. The SUSC series is being sponsored by the School of Continuing Education with history and political science personnel as discussion moderators. "In the last 200 years, the U.S. has become one of two great world powers with far-flung economic and military activities. Our power is felt in almost every corner of the world today," Decker said. Questions citizens might ask themselves prior to the forum include: What should be our position ir foreign affairs? How should we mix the four basic elements in foreign policy-the policy-the military, humanitarian, economic, and diplomatic? How can America best ad- j vance world order and world justice? "All citizens are encouraged to attend the meeting," Decker said, "there is no money involved, in-volved, no commercialism, just a chance to get together to discuss America-what it is, how it got that way, and where it is i headed." |
