Show USAF Thunderbirds featured during Bicentennial Air Show . The Bicentennial Air Show to be staged at the Cedar City Municipal Airport on Saturday, March 27 will feature the U. S. Air Force famous Thunderbirds . from Nellis Air Force Base, Nev. The Thunderbirds began performances in 1953, and became the first aerial demonstration team to perform above the Arctic Circle in I960. In 1970 the team performed 106 aerial demonstrations, and added a new maneuver to the show--the missing man formation, for-mation, a salute to the Vietnam prisoners of war and missing in action. The1 Thunderbird appeared ap-peared in 90 air shows, in 1975, including performances tin Alaska and Canada. In November of 1975, they were officially declared a Bicentennial organization. The Air Show is being spon- 1 sored by the Cedar City Chamber of Commerce and the Iron County Sheriff's Jeep Patrol. The Pre-show activities will begin at 10 a.m. and the Special Air Show will start at 1 p.m. Ground exhibits include experimental ex-perimental aircraft, modern business planes, model aircraft, acrobatic maneuver demonstrations demon-strations and airplane and helicopter rides. The day long event will also include Art Scholl with his Super Chipmonk, Debbie Gray, one of the few women aerialist in her Pitts Special and a special attraction at-traction will be Joe C. Hughes in his Super Wing Walking of Steve Trevor. Advanced tickets are $2 for adults and $1 for children; tickets purchased at the show will be 50 cents more. |
